A 25-year-old motorcyclist died today after a head-on collision with a car on the TF82 at Las Canales near Icod de los Vinos. Emergency services say that they were called out around 2pm with reports of the accident and that crew attending the scene found the man with serious head injuries. After being stabilized at the scene he was transferred in critical condition to University Hospital, but sadly he was pronounced dead around 7pm this evening.
In what has been a terrible day on Tenerife’s roads, a second motorcyclist was hurt in a collision with a car, this time in Calle Londres, Adeje, just after 3pm. Emergency services say that the man, of around 50, suffered hip injuries, and was transferred to Hospital Quirón Costa Adeje where his condition is said to be comfortable.
Yet another accident saw two men badly hurt after their vehicle overturned at San José de Los Llanos on the TF373 in the El Tanque municipality. The pair, a 32-year-old and his 21-year-old passenger, were transferred to Hospital del Norte with serious injuries after being cut out of the vehicle by Bomberos. No other vehicle was involved in the accident which took place shortly before 8am and the driver is thought to have possibly fallen asleep at the wheel.
Further north, on the TF13 in Tegueste, a young driver was injured after his car collided with a streetlight this lunchtime. Emergency services say they were called out just after half past one and found the man with arm injuries. He was taken to University Hospital where his condition is said to be comfortable.
Finally, a 20-year-old woman was injured in a pile-up on the TF42, the main road around Garachico. The accident happened around 2.30pm, and despite the crash involving three cars, one of which then careered into a wall, miraculously the woman was the sole injury. She was taken to University Hospital with multiple injuries but her condition too is said to be comfortable.
