One dead, two injured, in head-on collision on TF5

A 73-year-old woman died in a head-on collision on the TF5 at Los Realejos shortly before 6pm this evening. Emergency services say that they dispatched ambulances to the incident but that the woman had died in the collision. A 56-year-old woman and a 65-year-old man both were transferred to Hospital Bellevue having received minor injuries in the crash. Their conditions are said not to be serious.

  1. “TF-5, 42” is where the tunnel is.

  2. Thank you so much for your prompt reply and the very helpful information. I and many others really appreciated recently ate not only the very up to date news and info you provide but also your support and the accurate and important knowledge you have from living in Tenerife and your obvious excellent relationship with the authorities. Thank you again.

  3. Janet,
I am currently in th UK but when in Tenerife live in an apartment that overlooks the TF5 Los Realejos, especially the bend where a teenager was killed in yet another head on collision in 2016. My friends were also involved in a head on collision on the same stretch of road a little bit further along towards El Socorro beach. Each year (and we are only there for six months) there are at least two serious accidents on this stretch of road by Los Realejos. Can you tell me exactly where this latest head on collision took place. When I return to Tenerife I, and others who live in the area, would like to contact the appropriate department about this very dangerous stretch of road. It is where there is a short stretch of overtaking lane that then merges back to one actually on the bend. Who would you advise us to write to.

All I can give you is the kilometer point, which is PK42, though I’m afraid these hardly ever make any sense to me. It’s the only information from the emergency services to a specific location. As to who to write to, I would start with Carreteras in the Tenerife Cabildo. At present, the head of the department is Ofelia Manjon and you can email her at, or phone the general switchboard on 901 501 901 and ask for Carreteras, or send a message or tweet on twitter HERE.
