The Tenerife Cabildo has announced Ópera de Tenerife’s call for the 5th Tenerife International Opera Singing Contest to be held at the Tenerife Auditorium between 1 and 4 July, concluding with a concert by the winners on 5 July. Any singer born after 1 January 1978 is eligible to enter the contest, seen as a professional development to assist a singer’s success and artistic level. The competition’s regulations are published on the auditorium’s website HERE with registration forms to be sent in before 24 June (more information HERE).
Three cash prizes of €5,000, €3,000 and €1,000 will be awarded in addition to an honorary Extraordinary Audience Award. Contestants will need to prepare five arias of their choice to be sung by heart to a jury comprising members of recognized artistic and technical ability including 9 international professionals. The types of voice which may enter are soprano, mezzo-soprano, contralto, countertenor, tenor, baritone and bass. There will be an eliminatory phase on 1 and 2 July with a semifinal on the 3rd: the final itself will take place on 4 July followed on 5 July by the winners’ concert.
