“Passport extensions” system comes to an end

The UK Home Office has said that with demand for passports returning to normal levels, the 12-month extension measure which was brought in last year as a temporary measure will be brought to a close. From 10 April British citizens living abroad will need to apply to renew their passports in the standard way (see the top of my links page HERE). More than 20,000 Britons abroad have benefited from the contingency measure over the last nine months. The Passport Office says that it will be contacting all those with a passport extension at least two months before the expiry of their stamp to encourage them to renew their passports.
