Person knocked down on TF1 near Candelaria with accident causing pile-up and long tailback

Updated 4pm: The person knocked down was a woman who received multiple injuries, emergency services has confirmed. She has been transferred to Candelaria Hospital where her condition is said to be serious. Two young children of two and three years of age were also injured in the incident, and they were transferred to the same hospital where their conditions are thankfully said not to be serious. A further woman was transferred to Hospital san Juan de Dios in Santa Cruz-La Laguna suffering from an anxiety attack. The incident, which happened around 1pm, appears to have occurred when there was a collision of two cars and the woman badly injured had got out of her own car.

Original post 5 March: A person has been knocked down on the southbound carriageway of the TF1 near Punta Larga/Candelaria. The accident caused a pile-up which then resulted in a significant tailback as well. Carreteras asks drivers for their patience and caution in the area.  More follows.
