Police are searching for thieves who attacked a Tacoronte jewellers at gunpoint yesterday evening. The robbery took place around 8pm when two hooded and armed men entered the store and escaped in a VW Touareg, driven by a third man, which appears to have been stolen three weeks ago from San Isidro. The thieves used hammers to break the glass cabinets in the shop and pointed a gun at passers-by as they ran from the shop and escaped at great speed in the getaway vehicle. The Islas Canarias website has the following video taken at the time by an onlooker. Local Police were on the scene quickly and followed after the thieves but lost the trace at El Sauzal. Police are now appealing for help in locating the thieves while it is presently unknown whether the weapons were real or imitation, nor how much they got away with.
