Arona Ayuntamiento says that it has upped the police presence in El Fraile, Costa del Silencio and Las Galletas in response to resident demands following a significant rise in crime in the area. The council says that local police are now working with Guardia Civil to try to contain the problem, particularly in plazas, public parks and commercial areas.

In recent months, police have intervened in several physical assaults including attacks with planks of wood, dozens of drugs offences including the open sale of cocaine from a parked car, robberies, threatening behaviour, shoplifting and pickpocketing in broad daylight. Local police councillor Carolina Reverón said that the two police forces were working well together, and with other agencies, to guarantee resident safety.

  1. We have moved to Las Galletas haven’t seen any patrols at night even when hordes of drunken teenagers have taken over Rambla Dionisio shouting and screaming at weekends until 2-3am so the suggestion that they have upped the patrols are nonsense things are so bad they should have a permanent presence in the Rambla area.
