Puente weekend as Halloween followed by Día de todos los Santos on Monday 1 November

Many people will be “taking a puente” this weekend, to celebrate Halloween tomorrow and the bank holiday on Monday. November 1st is a national public holiday for Día de todos los Santos (All Saints Day), and many workers will make a long weekend of it (hence “puente”, or bridge).  Shops in the tourist areas are not likely to be affected on Monday, but administrative businesses  there will be closed, as will shops in the more residential or properly commercial areas  as locals pay their traditional visits to the cemeteries where their loved ones rest. It’s also the weekend when the clocks go back, with 2am tonight becoming 1am, giving an extra hour in bed.
