Original post 29 November: The Cabildo has announced that access roads to Teide are closed to traffic as part of the emergency plan put in place during the “temporal” of high winds and rain. The roads closed are the TF-21 La Orotava, TF-28 La Esperanza, TF-38 Chio and TF-523 Arafo.
In addition, the TF-82 Garachico to El Tanque road has been closed due to a fallen cable, and the TF-312 El Botánico (Puerto de la Cruz) is closed temporarily to clear a fallen tree, as is the TF-320 San Nicolás to La Zamora for rocfalls.
Two lanes of the TF-5 heading away from Santa Cruz are closed at km38 as a precaution against the possible fall of a hoarding.
The Cabildo asks people not to make unnecessary journeys and to take care while out and about. In particular, the public is asked to stay away from the areas mentioned for their own safety. PV
