The Tenerife Cabildo has voted unanimously to change the name of the Santa Cruz auditorium, which will now be known as the Auditorio Adán Martín Menis, in honour of the former President of the Canaries who died last October. Sr Martín was instrumental in the construction of the auditorium, which was designed by architect Santiago Calatrava. The former President’s widow, Pilar Parejo, attended the meeting in which the honour was paid to her late husband.
The motion said that “the Tenerife Auditorium is perhaps the most representative and emblematic image of Santa Cruz and of a city which continues looking forward. The PP’s spokesman, Antonio Alarcó, said that Adán Martín was renowned for his vision of the future, and for planning and achieving it. The renaming is therefore a fitting honour to be paid to the late President. PV
