Update 2 December: The dates and times for the rink are contained in the Ayuntamiento’s Christmas programme. It will be open between tomorrow, 3 December, and 8 January between the hours of 10am and 11pm. On 5 January, the eve of the Reyes Magos, it will remain open until 5am. There is no news about entry prices.
Update 16 November: This Christmas, the ice rink in Santa Cruz will be in the Plaza de Europa. This Plaza is near the beginning of the tram line, just a five minute walk towards the Plaza de España, or for those taking the tram, they should get off at the first stop, Fundación. It is hoped that it will open at the beginning of December. Negotiations are currently taking place with the management of the rink to make the entry price cheaper than last year.
Original post 9 October: Santa Cruz Ayuntamiento has announced that the ice rink project that was such a success last year will be repeated this Christmas. Dates are yet to be announced but one thing has already been settled: this year’s rink will not be in the Plaza de España as last year.
Front runners for the new location at present are the Plaza de Europa or the Plaza de la iglesia de la Concepción, either of which is capable of hosting a larger rink than last year. The Ayuntamiento says that they want to increase both capacity and users’ enjoyment and need a larger space for a bigger rink, and that the opening hours will be longer too. LO
