A man died just after half past eight this evening after being stabbed in a brawl in Santa Cruz. Emergency services say they were called out to Carretera del Rosario with reports that someone had been injured in an argument in public in the street. Ambulance crew assisted him at the scene and transferred him to hospital but sadly he died shortly after arrival. The Policía Nacional are investigating the incident and his father-in-law, who did not try to flee the scene, has been arrested.
Meanwhile, Policía Nacional and Arona Policía Local arrested a man at 6.30am yesterday morning for stabbing another in the chest on the Paseo Marítimo when a fight broke out after a night’s San Juan Bautista bonfire celebrations on Playa de los Cristianos. The attack took place in full view of police, who picked up the assailant after a brief chase. The 25-year-old victim received two stab wounds and was transferred to Hospiten Sur and then on to Candelaria Hospital, but is said not to be seriously injured.
