The Tenerife Cabildo says that it is in the middle of improving the access roads to the Teide National Park, works which involve a significant investment of nearly €5m to benefit all users, tourists, locals, cyclists etc.  The works are now finished on the TF38 Chio and TF24 La Esperanza roads, and are being completed on the TF21 La Orotava road. This last road is being done in three stages: Aguamansa to El Portillo, El Portillo to Boca Tauce, and Boca Tauce to Vilaflor, the middle stage is nearly completed.

In addition to improvements to the road surface, new safer and more environmentally appropriate crash barriers have been installed, and ditches cleaned out. The works are one of the central focus points of the Marco Estratégico de Desarrollo Insular (MEDI – strategic framework for insular development) designed by the Cabildo in consultation with all the ayuntamientos. This video has been released to show how the works are progressing and what the new roads will look like.
