On the day that I read with horror calls by MPs, no less, in Armenia for a fellow Parliamentarian to be burnt alive for daring to speak in their Parliament for the simple fact of being a transgender woman, I love to see that Tenerife continues its inclusivity and receptivity for the whole range of sexual and gender-based experiences. The Tenerife Cabildo has said that its facade will be lit up in violet from 8pm this evening in recognition of International Lesbian Visibility Day. The light up is part of an LGBT+ movement which started in Spain in 2008, and the Cabildo says it is a recognition of the freedom of sexual and gender expression. Tenerife’s always been known as a gay- and bi-friendly destination. In a world increasingly consumed with hate this is a beacon of hope.
