Turismo de Tenerife has opened a competition called “Mi rincón” (my corner). The competition is open to all residents to nominate their favourite place, activity, fiesta, tradition or route in the island. Entries can be made on www.sientoxciento.com and the “favourite corners” that get the most suggestions will be declared the winners, and will be incorporated into Tenerife’s official tourism page www.webtenerife.com, which receives more than two million visits a year.
Canarian tourism minister, José Manuel Bermúdez, said that the competition gave a platform for Tinerfeñans to show their favourite parts of the island, and to show their pride of being from Tenerife, a tourist destination with incredible attractions. The competition is open until 31 January 2011, and allows up to three entries per person in any of the four categories (activity, place, fiestas and traditions, and route).
It’s difficult to keep to one favourite in each category, but I suppose mine are:
activity – star gazing up Teide
place – La Laguna
fiestas/traditions – Noche de San Juan
route – Masca (pictured)
