Tenerife reservoirs almost full thanks to winter rains

The recent weather has had at least one benefit. After a worrying spell late last year, Tenerife’s reservoirs are now at an average of 86% capacity and it’s almost certain that there will be no water restrictions this coming summer. Tenerife has 23 public reservoirs, 16 in the north and 7 in the south, and at present 10 of them are 100% full. The 23 are: Montaña de Taco, El Palmar, Teno Alto, Ravelo, Los Partidos, Buen Paso, La Florida, La Tabona, Llanos de Mesa, La Cruz Santa, Aguamansa, Barranco de Benijos, San Antonio, Valle Molina, El Boquerón, Presas Ocampo, San Isidro, El Saltadero, San Lorenzo, Trevejos, Lomo del Balo, Blanca Sur and the water from the southern purifier. There are also, of course, many private tank reservoirs for agricultural purposes. The benefits of the recent rains are most clearly seen, perhaps, in the case of the Valle Molina reservoir in the Tegueste municipality, which was completely empty 10 months ago, mainly because of the previous winter’s lack of rain, but which is now full.
