Titsa (Transportes Interurbanos de Tenerife) has redesigned its entire southern bus network and the new system will run throughout south Tenerife from today. The Cabildo-owned private company says that after thirty years it is high time that south Tenerife’s development is recognized by services adapted to its needs, and that the new network, designed over the past two years in collaboration with southern municipalities, will be more logical and comprehensible, offering better links and more regular connections, not least for the southern hospital and airport.
In total there are 44 lines, of which 16 are new and 14 are significantly changed. There are also 34 new buses exclusively for the south. The 868 existing bus stops will continue in service and new stops will be added, giving services to places like Cho, Parque de la Reina, Montaña Pelada, and Los Toscales, which have not had bus connections to date. The new network, with new routes and changes to existing ones, has its own micro-site for public transport users: nuevaredsur.titsa.com.
