Traffic disruption this weekend as President of China visits Tenerife

It’s unlikely that we’ll get a glimpse of the Chinese president himself but anyone on the roads this weekend is almost certainly going to see the effects of his visit as police and security teams’ plans will inevitably involve delays and road closures. Although information about the plans is somewhat restricted for security reasons, confirmed details released so far show the President arriving tomorrow and leaving on Sunday, and staying at the Abama Hotel near Playa San Juan. Traffic disruption is therefore expected on the TF1 between TFS and Guía de Isora from 7.30pm tomorrow, Friday. On Saturday, the southern access roads to the Teide National Park will be closed between 2pm and 5pm (northern access routes are apparently unaffeced) as the President is taken on a tour, and then the TF1 will be affected again from 6pm as he returns to the airport for his flight back to China.

Perhaps check with the information number on your flight arrangements?

  3. It says in local paper he may go for a swim in the sea near Abama ! I hope they’ve fixed the sewage pipes in the area or we could have a nasty International Incident !
