Nine bodies now recovered from sea after patera overturned off Lanzarote coast

Updated 7 November: The death toll from the tragic accident yesterday morning when a patera overturned off the coast of Lanzarote has now risen to nine with the recovery of a further four bodies. Emergency services say that there are now thought to have been up to 15 in the craft, and so the search continues for any indications of other occupants.  

Original post 6 November: A tragedy has unrolled today off the Teguise coast of Lanzarote where a patera overturned this morning. Emergency services say that a wide range of air, sea and land resources were employed for a rescue and recovery operation that ended with four being saved from the sea and five bodies being recovered. The operation continues to try to find the other occupants of the patera, thought to be around a dozen or so, whose condition at present remains unknown.
