A major incident closed the TF21 in the caldera this lunchtime when two cars collided head-on near the Parador and burst into flames. Emergency services and the Cabildo’s roads department say that they were called out around 1.30pm with reports of the accident, and that all the emergency resources of the National Park were involved along with bomberos, police and ambulances. The blaze also set fire to some nearby vegetation and caused major tailbacks, as might be imagined, but mercifully no-one was seriously injured. Four people were transferred to hospital for medical attention: a 68-year-old man with minor injuries, a woman with moderate head injuries, and a 62-year-old woman suffering from a blood pressure crisis were all taken to the Costa Adeje’s Quirón Hospital while a 51-year-old woman was taken to Hospiten Sur with moderate neck injuries.
