Two night charity runs in west Tenerife to benefit disadvantaged families

There are a couple of charity runs coming up, first in Playa San Juan and then in Puerto Santiago. The Playa San Juan carrera solidaria is again a night race, and is again intended as a pre-Christmas effort to ensure that all children in the borough have at least one gift to wake up to on Reyes. As the organizers say, of course there are many priorities in life, and children need food and clothing, but they also need to feel the happiness of a time like Christmas, and the joy of receiving and playing with their gifts because their smiles are priceless.

Those who don’t want to run can still take part by bringing a toy along for one of the less advantaged families in Guía de Isora municipality. The race is being held on Saturday, 16 December, and those who would like to participate can register online HERE or in the council offices in Guía de Isora or Playa San Juan, in Farmacia Alcalá, Peluquería Adolfo, Cerrajería Superllave, Centro de Hitroterapia de Guía de Isora and Oleaje Sport. Children can take part too, and their race starts at 7pm, adults’ race at 9pm. If they choose, runners can also run in fancy dress over the two distances of 1200m and 5000m.

The Puerto Santiago race is again a night race starting at 7pm on Saturday, 13 January, over 5km and 7.5km. Registration is wholly online HERE where there are also full details about the race.  The poster is below and again there is a charitable aim, with the registration fee being 5 kilos of non-perishable foods for the less advantaged in the borough.
