Vertical Trail Los Gigantes–Santiago del Teide

Update 13 March 2013: It’s back! The second Vertical Trail Los Gigantes–Santiago del Teide will take place on 27 April. The 10km run starts at Los Gigantes harbour and ends up at an altitude of 930 metres  in the plaza de Santiago del Teide. There are more details for runners and watchers on the official site HERE, and also HERE on Santiago del Teide’s own website, where runners must register to take part. Inscription costs €10, though it is free for residents of Santiago del Teide municipality.

Hot on the heels of the Las Galletas half marathon comes the announcement of what should be a spectacular race … at least to watch! The first run of the Vertical Trail Los Gigantes – Santiago del Teide will be held on Sunday 22 April, organized by the Federación Insular de Atletismo de Tenerife and the sports department of Santiago del Teide Ayuntamiento. As with the Las Galletas half marathon, this run will be in two parts, one of 10 kilometres from Los Gigantes to the centre of Santiago del Teide via a mountain track, and a shorter route of 4 kilometres from Tamaimo plaza to Santiago del Teide. Both stages will start at 10am.  When they say “vertical”, though, they’re not kidding. The 4km run rises 358 metres, while the 10km one rises 930!

Runners can register in Santiago del Teide Ayuntamiento sports department situated in the sports complex “Pancracio Socas García” between 9am and 3pm, or in Base Deportes shops, of which there are branches in Las Chafiras and Los Cristianos, and in Santa Úrsula and Santa Cruz (La Salud). Inscription costs €10 or 15 depending on length of run chosen. It is also possible to register online – all details on the run blogspot HERE and the Athletics Federation site HERE.

Not aware of any, I’m afraid. I post everything I’m aware of, but often information is released either very early so people forget, or too late so people can’t attend. For easy reckoning, I have a “What’s On Diary” page HERE. Best is to keep checking that to see what’s on. If an event is not in that list, it’s not been posted on.
