Update 19 May: Refunds will start to be made from Wednesday 19 May through CajaCanarias, with the ticket price automatically credited to the card originally used for the purchase. The bank says that it will be in communication with everyone who bought a ticket to inform them of the refund process, which will apparently require people to send an initial email to request the refund, perhaps as some sort of security measure. Ticket holders will have 15 days from receipt of the bank’s communication to send the email requesting the refund, which will then be made immediately.
It appears, too, that ticket holders for the cancelled concert can also get a 40% discount on the cost of tickets for the Alicia Keys concert in Santa Cruz harbour on 6 June. El Dia
Update 30 April: World’s Rock Producciones has announced a client helpline for those wanting information on getting a refund for the cancelled concert. The number is 902 50 10 55. The specific mechanism for the refund will be announced in the middle of next week after it has been confirmed with General Tickets CajaCanarias. DA
Update 27 April: Sad to announce, but Whitney Houston’s Tenerife concert has been cancelled. Further details are still being sought, but the news comes from sources close to the singer, and several national media have announced it, such as M80 Radio and Channel SER. Information is still being sought from the producers of the event, Rolo Productions, about refunds of tickets already sold. C24H
Update 8 April: Whitney Houston has said that she feels well and is ready to continue with her world tour. It seems she is still in hospital in Paris, but was talking to People magazine where she confirmed that her health is good, though she is suffering from a number of alergies. She stressed that she is “doing what she likes best, singing and the best part of touring is seeing all the fans around the world”. It is clearly not yet beyond the bounds of possibility that this concert will still go ahead here. C24H
Update 7 April: As has been clear from the international press, Whitney Houston has been taken ill with a chest infection in Paris, admitted to hospital, and indefintely postponed her Paris concert. Now it appears that the whole tour could be in jeopardy, with press in Tenerife speculating of a complete suspension. Apparently an official representative of the singer has said on Italian television that all forthcoming concerts are put off temporarily, to resume from 30 June. At present, the producer of the Tenerife concert, Rolo Producciones, has no knowledge of any suspension and is working according to the original timetable of a concert in the Dársena Los Llanos, in Santa Cruz harbour, on 30 April. Original post 24 November: First Elton John came to perform a concert at Adeje Golf, then Rod Stewart. There was much talk, and much pooh-poohing of suggestions that a third huge name would follow. And now we know not only that it was true, but who it is. Whitney Houston will perform in Adeje Golf on 30 April 2010. The date already appears on her website calendar as an official concert.
