Hesperia Language School is helping the British association “Amigos de Gillian Banks” to collect food donations for the underprivileged families at Guaidyl school in Granadilla, so they have food for Christmas. The School is a collecting point in El Médano until the 14th of December.
People can help by donating an item of food, (preferably Canarian and food that has a long life, I.e. rice, flour, tins of vegetables or meat etc), at the school in the special box. The members of the association will be collecting the food on the Wednesday 14th December.
Christmas is one of the hardest times for underprivileged families. This project is about enabling those who live in difficult times in Tenerife not to feel excluded from these end-of-year celebrations, a period when everyone feels the pleasure of being together, to offer and share good times.
Guaidyl is a public center of the primary school network for training, social integration and protection of minors in pre-risk or declared at social risk.
Los Amigos de Gillian Banks is an association that helps underprivileged children of Tenerife by raising funds to help with educational and vocational training. They organise food collection for special year occasion such as Christmas.
Hesperia Language School is a young school that aims to teach Spanish to foreign people. As a Canarian, supporting local disadvantaged families concerns Carmen Jorge the director of the school. When her students (also members of the association) talked about the project she offered her help.
