Aemet retracts Tenerife yellow alert

Update 1pm: Aemet has withdrawn the yellow alert for Tenerife; it is now in place only for Lanzarote. The original weather forecast for the next few days remains unchanged, namely for the calima to start dispersing from tomorrow afternoon, bringing slightly fresher weather for the weekend.

Original post 15 June 12.00: Aemet has raised a yellow alert for strong winds in Tenerife between 4pm today and 9am tomorrow. The alert is for winds gusting to 80 km/h, particularly at altitude and in the municipalities of La Orotava and Vilaflor. The wind will be accompanied by a rise in temperatures throughout the Canaries, particularly away from the coasts and at mid-altitude. Temperatures are expected to exceed 30º. Both wind and temperatures are the result of a calima, which will affect the eastern islands most of all.
